Looking for an activity the whole family will enjoy?  On Saturday, October 11th from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., the Village of Fairport celebrates autumn with its annual Scarecrow Festival.  Local merchants try to out-design each other, so don’t forget your camera!

The festival also includes a homecoming parade at 9 a.m., a sidewalk sale and public market, antique fire engine and pony rides, kids’ activities and plenty of entertainment, including:

•Tales and Tunes, sponsored by Friends of the Fairport public Library, 11:30

•Correna Ann, Country Music Singing Sensation, 12:30

LakesideCountry Cloggers, 1:30  

•Fiddlers of the Genesee, 2pm

•Boland Irish Dancers, 3pm

•Hot Dog Sale, 9am–4pm

•Face Painting •Bring-Your-Own Pumpkin Painting •Bobbing for apples

•Moonlight Creamery: Ice Cream Eating Contest, Casa Larga Wine Tasting

Activities also include the Fairport Electic Open House (10 a.m. – 1 p.m.), the Fairport Fire Department Open House (11 a.m. – 3 p.m.), the FHS Homecoming Football Game (2 p.m.) the Colonial Belle Leaf-Peeper Boat Tours (11:30 a.m. & 1 p.m.) and Fairport Historical Museum Tours (12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Prepare early for Halloween with a viewing of Shrek III at the “Drive-in,” located in the Fairport Village Landing Parking Lot. The show begins at 7 p.m. and the lot opens at 6 p.m.  Refreshments are available for purchase.

Fairport is a charming port town on the Erie Canal, and if you’ve never been there before, the Scarecrow Festival’s a great way to get acquainted, or if you have, homecoming weekend’s a great time to return.
