This year, the Philadelphia Flower Show’s Theme is Passport to the World. India will come to life amid a shower of flowers in an Indian wedding scene. The Netherlands will be portrayed in a floating flower market filled with over 100,000 blooms. The natural wonders of South Africa will be depicted by the vivid colors and patterns of Zulu costumes. The Amazon jungle of Brazil will unfold in a canopy of sparkling waterfalls, tropical flora and exotic wildlife. Singapore, the “Pearl of Asia,” will have a tribute to the orchid, and New Zealand will feature the wild flora and native Maori traditions. You’ll also enjoy viewing a variety of demonstrationsand lectures as well as shopping among more than 140 vendors selling everything from plants and landscaping to jewelry and home decor.
After the Flower Show, it’s on to the Hampton Inn in Delaware. After a good night’s sleep there, you’ll visit beautiful Longwood Gardens with its amazing conservatory housing over 5500 plants and its stunning formal gardens. At the Gardens, you’ll enjoy a leisurely lunch.
Next, it’s on to The Brandywine River Museum, a former 19th Century gristmill that showcaseses the art of three generations of the Wyeth family, including beautiful paintings from Treasure
On the way home, there’ll be one last stop at the Radisson Lackawanna Station Hotel in Scranton, PA for an elegant dinner.
