On the day I stopped by, Pat was working on a beautiful landscape. I asked how she would know when it was finished.

“It’s so funny…I thought this painting was finished a while ago and I displayed it. But every time I walked past, I kept feeling that something was missing. I finally brought it back to my easel and ended up changing the foreground and adding boats to the water. Now, it’s finished.”

The landscape is done in oils, which is Pat’s specialty. She has loved art and painting for as long as she can remember and tells of a defining moment at about the age of 9 or 10.

“Someone gave me a paint by number kit. I thought it was silly, so I painted over it with my own original design and gave it to my aunt.”

A unique feature of Pat’s gallery is the classes and workshops she offers in a large, bright and airy studio directly behind the gallery. Art lovers of all levels are welcome, and the multi-week classes include painting, drawing, pastels, collage, as well as many other disciplines. Pat usually teaches the oil painting classes and has other professional artists/teachers come in to give the others. For those who aren’t able to take a multi-week program or who are interested in a specific medium, she also offers one-day mini-workshops.

With regard to her studio, Pat shares, “We have a ‘no floors, no ceiling’ policy when it comes to art. We’re here to help every person develop his or her creativity and artistic skills no matter what their level of experience!”
